Afghan official accuses Uzbekistan of “improper attitude” towards Afghan traders

In a press conference on Tuesday, Afghan Director of Commerce Mohammad Hashim Barna alleged that Uzbekistan’s “improper attitude” towards Afghanistan has been the cause of trade barriers in northern Afghanistan.
He said Afghan entrepreneurs were given bad treatment in Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan’s double standards had negatively impinged on the overall business climate at the Hairatan Dry Port in Balkh, he said, suggesting a high-powered delegation’s visit Tashkent to discuss the issues. (Pajhwok Afghan News-PAN)
He further claimed that trade is turning into a mafia business in Central Asia, where cooperation among neighbors continues to be weak.
