This result comes after Afghanistan played 3 games in the recent AFC Challenge Cup qualification 2014. Afghanistan won 2 games and draw 1 to receive this improved ranking. This is the best rank Afghanistan have ever achieved beating there previous best rank of 162. This climb makes Afghanistan 21st in Asia out of 46 Asian nations.

Afghanistan football Federation should note that the more active the national football team is, the better the ranking of Afghanistan will become. Afghanistan should continue to organise and participate in regular friendlies and tournaments in order to improve the national team and also continue to improve there FIFA ranking.
