Agriculture Ministry promises agro projects for Helmand province

Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Minister Asadullah Zamir announced on Thursday that agriculture projects worth 500mn Afghanis would be launched in southern Helmand province.
Addressing a press conference, Minister Zamir said the projects included green houses, 500 pistachio orchards, water dams, 2000 pomegranate and grape orchards, poultry farms, 500 small orchards for women, raisin processing structures and other projects would be launched in March 2016.
He added the projects would create job opportunities for the Helmand residents.
Minister Zamir has reportedly survived a bomb blast which targeted his convoy on his way from Kandahar to Helmand.
The minister has been on a visit in southern Afghanistan assessing opportunities for strengthening the agriculture sector.
He said that southern Afghanistan provided great opportunities for boosting agriculture in the country.
