Ashraf Ghani appoints Omar Zakhilwal as acting Finance Minister and Finance Advisor

Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai appointed Dr. Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal as acting Finance Minister and National Finance Adviser on Wednesday.
Zakhilwal was a close ally of Dr. Ghani during his presidential campaign.
He served as Finance Minister and Economic Advisor to Afghanistan’s former President Hamid Karzai.
Dr. Ghani announced appointment of key officials within two days of his presidency. He appointed the former Interior Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmat as the National Security Advisor and Abdul Salam Rahimi as his Chief of Staff.
