coal[1]Coal extraction activities have been halted in Samangan and Bamyan provinces.

This comes after a mining incident in a coalmine in the Roy Do Aab district of Samangan province that resulted in the death of 27 miners.

About 4,500-5000 labors have lost their jobs as a result of the decision.

Afghan Mines Minister, who was summoned by the Parliament, was accused of failing to standardize mining activities.

“No proper measures have been taken to prevent such deadly incidents. The Ministry is responsible for the incident in Samangan goal mine,” said MP Ghulam Husain Nasiri.

Meanwhile, a number of MPs called on the Ministry to expedite the extraction process of the mines that has been going at a slow pace for years and is faced with a number of challenges that need to be addressed.
