High Commodity Prices in Zabul

Zabul residents have complained about the high prices of food and fuel during the month of Ramadan.

They say that people of Zabul are not well-off enough to be able to afford such high prices. They want the government, especially the municipal officials, to oversee and control prices of commodities during the month of Ramadan, and those who violate should be dealt with legally.

Sayed Ahmad Safi, Municipal of Qalat, says that it is difficult to control prices, as it is an open market. However, they will still make efforts to control prices to a certain extent.

“If a shopkeeper violates, then he will face legal actions,” said Mr. Safi.

The problem of inflation in commodity prices exists in southern provinces of Uruzgan and Kandahar as well; however, until now the government has not taken any measures.
