According to a statement from the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), India will launch work on a major Science and Agro-tech University in southern Kandahar province in a month.
This comes after President Hamid Karzai proposed establishment of a university during his visit to New Delhi, India. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh committed to grant USD 70mn in aid as an acceptance to the proposal.
The University would be built on 2,030 acres of land, said the statement from MoHE.
A list of requirements for the University has been submitted to Indian officials who would officially begin work on the University next month.
