Japan funds construction of canal, waterhead in Nangarhar

Japanese flag[1]Japan has pledged USD 3.37mn for the construction of a canal and a waterhead in Behsud, eastern Nangarhar Province.

An agreement to that effect was signed on Saturday between Governor Maulwi Attaullah Ludin and Dr. Tetsu Nakamora, the Peace Japan Medical Services (PJMS) head in eastern Nangarhar.

Benefitting 4,000 families, the projects are expected to be completed within two years.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Governor Ludin said the project would bring under irrigation over 1000 hectares of land.

The PJMS officials, who have taken full charge of the implementation of the projects, said quality would be maintained during the implementation of the schemes.

Japan has funded various other facilities in the province including the Murwarid Canal, Qasimabad waterhead, Kashkatan canal, buildings for public schools and roads in rural areas.
