Kabul to witness 300 agriculture projects

The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock has planned 300 projects that would be launched in Kabul during the current year.
Costing more than USD 15mn, the projects include food security, animal husbandry, natural resources and an improved irrigation system, according to the Pajhwok Afghan News.
Agriculture Minister Mohammad Asif Rahimi told a gathering, that his ministry would provide kits of agriculture instruments to the district chiefs.
The equipment would be given to agricultural teams for training farmers’ cooperatives, Director of Agriculture Hashmatullah Inayat said. He added the projects included the establishment of greenhouses, saffron and soybean cultivation on a trial basis, digging wells, canal cleaning, establishment of orchards and nurseries and a campaign against pests and plant diseases.
According to Mr. Rahimi, they have more than $100 million development budget for 2013 and the figure may be increased by the Ministry of Finance. (Pajhwok Afghan News)
