Pakistan yet to build the Jalalabad-Torkham road

torkham roadPublic Works Minister Najibullah Awjan said work on the second lane of the Jalalabd-Torkham would be launched soon upon the completion of the survey next week.

The project was initially launched with financial support from Pakistan, but the project has remained incomplete despite repeated promises by Pakistani officials to resume the work.

Minister Awjan said the Ministry would no longer wait for Pakistan to construct the 75-km highway.

According to the Pajhwork Afghan News, the Ministry would also undertake the construction of the Behsud Bridge over Kabul River along with the Jalalabad-Torkham highway with a development outlay of USD 150mn allocated to eastern Nangarhar province.

According to Awjan, the Kabul-Sarobi road through the mountainous Lataband area of Kabul and the two bridges in Nangarhar would also be built soon.
