Prices soar in Faizabad due to dilapidated roads

Blockades due to dilapidated conditions of the roads have jacked up prices of food items in Faizabad, capital of Badakhshan.
According to Public Works Ministry, active insurgents in the area have deliberately destroyed the roads and posed threats to the government that prevented reconstruction work on the roads.
Bridges and roads that link border districts—Ishkashim, Shaghnan, Zibak and Wakhan— with the capital have been blown up and destroyed.
Residents have expressed concerns about the soaring prices of necessary items and called for immediate restoration of the transportation system.
