Problem with Afghan visa issuance to foreign workers in the provinces resolved

By Mohammad Naeem: Afghanistan Investment Support Agency (AISA) has announced that the problem of issuing visas to foreign employees of companies operating in the provinces has been resolved.
Wafiullah Eftikhar, CEO of AISA, announced in a press conference that foreign employees of companies operating in the provinces can now obtain their Visas from their provinces.
This is a significant change, as previously issuing and renewing visas for foreign employees of these companies had to be processed at the capital and this was causing delays and problems.
This comes after steel-melting factory in Herat closed down in protest against an excessive delay in issuance of visas to foreign workers.
Around half of 10,000 workers at 350 factories at the Herat industrial park are foreigners.
Industrialists had warned of shutting down industries if the visa issue were not resolved.
