Russia offers oil to Afghanistan at a discounted rate

oilRussia has agreed to sell oil to Afghanistan at a discounted price of USD 95 on each ton of oil and USD 55 on each ton of diesel fuel.

Afghan Ministry of Commerce and Industries approached Russia for an oil deal in a bid to tackle soaring prices of fuel in the Afghan market.

As per the agreement, the Afghan government will import 500,000 tons of oil from Russia.

According to the Afghan Ministry of Commerce and Industries officials, 20% of the oil would be imported by the Oil and Gas Enterprise and the rest would be imported by private companies.  The price for the oil in Afghan market would be set by the government with cooperation of private companies to control market prices and ensure profitability for the importers.
