Salang’s reconstruction work lacks quality

The delegation sent to review the reconstruction work on Salang highway said that the work lacks “good quality”.
Jahangir Jawan, member of Baghlan’s provincial council and a member of the delegation, said the current work on the highway is of poor quality like the previous times.
Engineer Salih Karimi from the construction company in charge of asphalting the highway said the heavy traffic flow of vehicles and pedestrians have slowed down the reconstruction process and have made it difficult to execute the work as per the contract requirements.
Meanwhile, the pedestrians have urged the government to facilitate the reconstruction work of the highway.
“Salang highway was once one of the best roads of Afghanistan. However now, it has become highly impassable due to substandard quality of the work,” said a driver, Mohammad Ibrahim.
