Taliban launch poppy eradication program in Kunar

opium cultivationThe Taliban have begun eradicating poppy crops in eastern Kunar province, according to the Pajhwok Afghan News.

A rebel commander, who did not want to be named, insisted they had always prevented poppy cultivation in their areas and would not allow anyone to grow the illicit crop.

Elsewhere, 60 acres of poppy crop were eradicated by policemen in Alishang and Dawlat Shah districts of Eastern Laghnman province.
