Jawzjan Governor Mohammad Alim Saee said in a press conference that various infrastructure projects worth USD 9million would be implemented soon in northern Jawzjan province with financial collaboration from Turkey.
The projects include asphalting of roads inside the city of Sheberghan, building an orphanage and establishing a professional technical school. Work on the projects would start by the end of 1391.
About 1,700 Turkish soldiers serve in the NATO force in Afghanistan. Turkey’s representatives for provincial reconstruction and modernization of Afghanistan are active in Sheberghan, and since the past two years they have been contributing towards building schools, clinics and roads and providing access to hygienic drinking water.
According to Governor Alim Saee, Turkey has given its commitment to the development of the province and has listed the reconstruction of the roads in the city of Sheberghan as its first priorities.
Meanwhile, a number of residents from Sherbeghan said that several other governors promised to asphalt the roads in the area, but none fulfilled their promise.
The center of the province has witnessed 17.5km of the roads asphalted during the time of the former governor Juma Khan Hamdard. Restoration of the telecommunication, information and culture and the municipality hotel is still continuing since the past four years.
Residents claim that the asphalted roads are of poor quality and were damaged before the submission period.
