USD 1mn power project to be implemented across Afghanistan

Water and Energy Minister Ismail Khan announced Wednesday that a major power project providing cheap electricity to residents across the country would be implemented at a total cost of USD 1mn.
The project, funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), would be jointly executed by the Water and Energy Ministry and a German company.
Minister Ismail Khan said the 20-year-long master plan would focus on the development and reconstruction of hydropower dams in Kokcha, Badakhshan, Kajaki and Kunar that have the capacity to generate electricity for the whole country.
He added domestic resources for energy production, such as water and gas, would be used in this plan.
