Why does Afghanistan still need to hire foreign officials?

professionalsIn the past decade, the government has legally permitted foreigners to work in Afghanistan.

Currently, more than 17,200 foreign workers have received work permits in Afghanistan, according to Labor and Social Affairs Deputy Minister Hossamuddin Hamrah.

The Labor and Social Affairs Ministry said the need for hiring foreign employees arises from the fact that Afghans still lack the capability required in certain professional fields.

Meanwhile, some parliamentarians have accused the government for failing to provide the right trainings to Afghan labor force that would help them professionalize in various fields.

“In the past ten years the government could not provide education opportunities for Afghans in professional fields, so that our own Afghans could be hired in professional fields,” Tolo News quotes MP Ubaidullah Ramin.
