Economists predict football World Cup finalists

FIFA World CupEconomists at Goldman’s Sachs have forecasted football results for the upcoming World Cup.

The economists see Brazil, Argentina, Germany and Spain as the four semi-finalists.

Brazil is predicted to have a 48.5% chance of Brazil lifting the cup, with a 14.1% chance of Argentina being victorious.

England’s chance of winning the Cup is predicted at 1.4%–a better prospect than Uruguay, Portugal, France and Belgium.

The predictions are based on looking at historical data of mandatory international football matches using complicated mathematical formulas.
