Afghanistan cricket team declared winner of the Zimbabwe series trophy

The Afghanistan national cricket team was declared winner of the Zimbabwe series after winning One Day International (ODI) and one unofficial test match against a test playing nation.
Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) said Afghanistan was awarded the series trophy for leveling the series with higher points.
Afghanistan tour of Zimbabwe was organized with an aim to prepare the Afghan team for the upcoming ICC World Cup which is due to be held next year.
According to ACB officials, the series was a major event for the Afghan cricket team to further boost their skills for the ICC World Cup.
Afghanistan national cricket team is also expected to travel to Australia and New Zealand in September and October, in a bid to prepare for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
