Afghanistan Defeats Nepal in AFC Teen Asian Cup Qualifier

afg vs nepalAfghanistan’s National Football Teenage Team beat Nepal 2-1 on Tuesday in the Asian Federation Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup qualifier.

Afghanistan had a serious attempt at a goal in the 25th minute but it was blocked by Nepal, only to score almost five minutes later in the 31st minute.

The score was 1-0 at half time. While Nepal scored in the second half, Afghanistan proved the stronger team with another goal in the 47th minute.

Omid Haidar and Mohammad Zaki were the goal scorers for Afghanistan.

Afghanistan next faces Bhutan and Tajikistan in Group C for its qualifying bout.

The international competition involves 46 countries’ football teams – 16 teams will go through the AFC Asian Cup.

The Afghan national teen team has sent 20 players to compete with high expectations that they will succeed, given they are one of the strongest teams in the region.

The winning team of the AFC Asian Cup becomes the champion of Asia and automatically qualifies for the FIFA Confederations Cup.

The Asian Cup has been held once every four years since 1956 where it was first played in Hong Kong.
