Afghanistan to face Sri Lanka in Asian qualifier

Afghanistan will face Sri Lanka in the opening game of the 2014 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Challenge Cup qualifier scheduled to be held in Laos from March 2 to 6.
The twenty teams involved in the qualification draw were drawn into five groups of four teams where Sri Lanka is in group “C” along with Afghanistan, Mongolia and host Laos. Sri Lanka must finish second in the group to qualify for the finals stages.
According to the tournament schedule Myanmar will host all “A” group matches while group “B’ will be hosted by Kyrgyzstan, Nepal will host group “D” and Philippines all group “E” games. The FFSL has already selected 29 players into a pool to go ahead with training with coach Sampath Perera.
